Childhood
Born Efosa Oghenekevwe Okeoghene Omorogbe on March 3, 1971, in Warri, Delta State, to Moses Osasogie Omorogbe and Olu Akpoviri nee Onoviran, Efe grew up in a large family alongside 24 siblings.
His paternal roots are in the Igbinazaka family of Ugbeze-Isi, Uhunmwode local government area of Edo state, Nigeria while his mothers are in the Onoviran family from Ukoli Quarters in Olomoro, Isoko South local government area of Delta state.
He had a ‘fun, tough but mostly beautiful childhood’ growing up in the oil city where he developed a strong affinity for music, an eclectic multicultural and multigenerational mix. He attended Ighogbaudu Primary School, Warri, and Ogodo Primary School, Sapele before moving to Okotie-Eboh Grammar School, Sapele, where he developed his writing, rapping, dancing, and beatboxing skills.
Early career
Between 1988 and 1991, Efe Omorogbe took the first few steps in the transition from enthusiast to professional. He shopped a rap demo around and got signed by the Benin-based imprint, B Squad Records, a subsidiary of Benjof International ran by the famous dancer, choreographer, and showbiz impresario, Ben Olaye.
Though the deal didn’t deliver an official release, Efe experienced talent development/management up close during a 2-year stint that saw him appear on two seasons of the regional hit music variety TV show, “Beat Wave”.
Career.
Graduate of University of Lagos, BA, English (Ed), class of 1996, Omorogbe worked in entertainment media as associate editor, Hip-hop World magazine, the progenitor of HipTV and associate producer of Global Sounds (Nigezie) before focussing fully on Now Muzik, a talent management, label and consulting firm reputed for its work with key players in Nigeria’s pop music pantheon for more than two decades.
Now Muzik earned the reputation as Nigeria’s premiere talent management and music consulting company providing impeccable support service for top artistes like Sunny Neji, 2Baba /2face Idibia, Mr. Raw, Seyi Shey and Timi Dakolo amongst many others. Omorogbe is co-founder, Hypertek Digital/960 Music Group and founder, Buckwyld Media Network, a creative and production solutions company.
He is also an associate co-producer, All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). His work in partnership with key industry leaders birthed the Association of Music Business Professionals (AM.B-Pro) and later, the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) in 2010 where Omorogbe has served as director for many years. He also served on the Nigerian Covid-19 Creative Industry Committee.
A man of many interests, he also has his hands in agribusiness, sports, and hospitality. He is a director at Innobia Agro-Allied Ltd, Mees Palace Football Academy, and Effizie Plus.
Ahead of his passion for the entertainment industry, Omorogbe is big on family – immediate and extended, blood or bond. He got married to Bukola Mafoitan in 2001, and they have a son together, Esosa Oluwaseun Omorogbe.
A passionate Manchester United and Real Madrid fan, Efe Omorogbe played and followed football from early childhood. He is a movie buff who cherishes the cinema experience and also loves traveling.
